VAST is a new concert work by Constantine Koukias conceived as an immersive sonic exploration of dark energy, the enigmatic force driving the accelerating expansion of the universe.

Inspired by the 1998 discovery of dark energy by astronomers Adam Riess, Saul Perlmutter, and Brian Schmidt, this work translates one of contemporary science's greatest mysteries into a powerful and accessible artistic experience.
The composition features a unique blend of voices, chamber ensemble, pre-recorded music, and spatialized electronics, which envelopes the audience in a distinctive auditory landscape. To date, over 120 voices and 80 instrumentalists—many of whom have collaborated with Koukias since 1990—have been sampled and reprocessed.
